No More New York Winters?

The New York Panel on Climate Change says that by 2050, New York City will enjoy snow free winters similar to Birmingham, Alabama. This represents an average 5 degree increase in temperature.

It seems like I've heard something like this before. Oh, that's right, the prediction in 2000 that snow falls in England were a thing of the past, that children would grow up not knowing what snow was, and that by 2020, snow storms would be so rare that one would cause enormous disruptions.
