Obama's Economy

North Carolina and Tennessee had the biggest increase in the number of residents living in poor neighborhoods. Louisiana, West Virginia, Hawaii and Alaska were the only states where the figure decreased

The Daily Mail has an article indicating that one-third of Southerners in the United States live in poverty. However, the more interesting information from the article is the change in poverty between 2000 and 2010. If you look at the foregoing graph, poverty has increased in all but three states. It has declined the most in the D.C. area. It declined in Louisiana, but that may just be a result of the exodus after Katrina.
