Turkey Doesn't Seem to Be Winning Any Friends

A couple articles from The Tower that caught my eye. First, Pres. Assad has threatened that Turkey "will pay dearly" for assisting the Syrian rebels. This may partially be motivated by Turkey recently shooting down a Syrian helicopter, resulting in its pilot being captured and beheaded by Syrian rebels.

Second, Turkey has indicated that it is highly likely that it will be purchasing weapons, including missile defense systems, from China--specifically, "China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp (CPMIEC), a company that among other things is currently under U.S. sanctions for violations of the Iran, North Korea and Syria Nonproliferation Act."
