CA Assembly Passes Bill Reducing Prison Time for Drug Offenses

The California Assembly has passed a bill that would give prosecutors more lee way in charging for certain drug crimes, giving the option to charge users of cocaine and heroin with a misdemeanor rather than a felony. The bill's sponsor, Tim Donnelly (a "Tea Party" conservative) labelled the drug war a failure. The bill still has to be passed by the California Senate and signed by the Governor.
