By now you are probably aware of the mob action in Michigan in response to the Right-to-Work bill passed there. Teamsters Union leader, Jimmy Hoffa, promised a "civil war" over the issue, while Democratic state Rep. Douglas Geiss said “There will be blood” as a result of the bill’s passage. They seem to be correct. Legal Insurrection recaps some of yesterday's events:
The numerous videos of the union mob action in Michigan today show an assault on Steven Crowder, but it actually was potentially much worse as the mob collapsed the tent even as bystanders screamed that there were people inside. The story goes on to note that the union mob trampled the tent despite warnings that there were people in the tent.
Here’s the descripion from the news station which filmed the event:
Right to work protesters toppled a tent on the capitol lawn that had been erected by supporters of the legislation. The tent straps were loosened and then toppled even though there were people inside.
A loud and angry confrontation between protesters and supporters followed. Within minutes, state troopers showed up to push the crowd back. When troopers met resistance, they began using their nightsticks.
The Washington Examiner also relates:
If you are on the fence about right-to-work laws, the YouTube video of conservative commentator and stand-up comedian Steven Crowder having his face bashed in Tuesday should be all you need to know to make up your mind. If you want to end special legal privileges and forced payments to organizations that have resorted to such violence and intimidation for years, then you'll come down strongly for right-to-work laws. A mob of unionists protesting Michigan's enactment of right-to-work legislation -- which allows workers to choose whether to pay union dues -- attacked a tent that had been pitched on the capitol grounds by peaceful counter-demonstrators. Crowder was among those pleading for restraint as the union thugs set upon the tent, using knives to slash its canvas and ties, so that it collapsed on the people inside. For standing in their way, Crowder was punched in the face three times, received a very loud and profane death threat, and was finally grabbed by his coat collar and pulled backwards as he attempted to retreat. The whole thing was caught on camera. The union mob also destroyed a hot-dog stand while yelling racial slurs at the owner, who is black.
