David Petzal at Field & Stream explains why he won't disclose when he has problems with a firearm he is reviewing.
The failure to disclose the bad with the good is one of the reasons I have such a hard time trusting reviews in gun magazines. Failure to report bad things is essentially a lie by omission.
If there is a problem, then they can report about the problem, what the company did to correct or address the problem, and the final result. But if they are going to sugarcoat their reviews, or not even report something that went wrong, then what is the point of writing a review--just copy the company's press release.
